A Day In Nassau, The Bahamas

Hey Gallivanters!

Welcome back to the blog.

I’m back healing my sunburns after a week in paradise in the Bahamas.

Although I wish you all could have joined me, I thought I’d share some photos from my trip, along with a short itinerary to tide you over.

With that being said, let’s spend a day in Nassau, Bahamas.

There is currently a travel advisory for Nassau, Bahamas as of January 2024.

Bay Street

Let’s start our day on bustling Bay Street. Starting on the infamous Bay Street gives us the opportunity to get our cheap souvenirs, fine jewelry, and conch salads for days.

The Straw Market

Also located on Bay Street, check out the straw market for all things handmade including straw hats, baskets, purses, satchels, and so much if you are ready to bargain for it.

Queen Victoria Statue + Parliament Square

The marble statue of Queen Victoria of England sits within Parliament Square just north of Bay Street in downtown Nassau. This is where many of Nassau’s iconic pink and white buildings are located and make a great photo op. for some historical instagramming.

The Queen’s Staircase

Next, back a sack lunch to ascend all 66 steps of the Queen’s Staircase overlooking the city of Nassau. The steps, named after Queen Victoria herself, provide a direct route between the city of Nassau and Fort Fincastle.

Fort Fincastle

Fort Fincastle was built in 1793 to protect Nassau from all skallywags and pirates of that time. The fort is accessible on foot via the Queen’s Staircase, and allows for a great view of the city

Now that all we’ve done all our shopping and our culturing, go and enjoy the white beaches and blue waters of Nassau or the surrounding islands. We’re on vacation after all!

Either way, thanks for checking out the blog and joining me on a day in Nassau.
