Welcome back Gallivanters!
Throughout all of the hustle and bustle in life, you have found yourself here taking time to learn more about improving your health and wellness through mindfulness.
I’d be lying if I said I had this mastered, most days I don’t find the time to sit in the quiet because I’m rushing off to work and getting ready for too a busy day.
On those days, I find myself with a stiff back, gritted teeth, and a clenched fist by lunch.
I’ve found that I am a much better employee and friend when I take 5 minutes for myself in the morning or even at the end of the day to simply be.
I’ve talked about the wonders of meditation and prayer before, but sometimes it helps me if the goal is to simply think about nothing.
No thoughts of self-improvement, no thinking about everything I’ve got going on that day.
No thoughts of self-doubt, no thinking about what other people are thinking about.
Something I am working on through meditation is being more patient and attentive when others are speaking to me.
As much as we Gallivanters love to daydream and plan, getting lost in our thoughts when we should be listening can happen very quickly.
Being in the here and the now is what matters. When this happens in conversation, I try to work backwards from what I’m thinking about to what led me down that train of thought and back into the conversation.
Being more mindful of our current surroundings and even our own thoughts can positively impact our relationships, our self-esteem, and our health by reducing stress.
