A Nancy Meyers, Coastal Granddaughter, Ina Garten August.

Hello Gallivanters!

As we bid summer adieu and prepare to welcome the next season of our lives, August offers us a reprieve.

I like to think of August as a transitional period that allows for positive changes and transformations not just in our personal lives – but all around us.

Nothing embodies this feeling well enough as a Nancy Meyers film, a classic Ina Garten recipe, and the coastal granddaughter aesthetic.

So if you can’t make it out to your second home in Cape Cod…

Reorganize your home, making sure everything has a place.

Pick a playlist to listen to while hanging out in the kitchen.

Make something from scratch: croissants, croques monsieur, cookies.

Make something from Ina Garten aka Barefoot Contessa.

Wake up at midnight and make pancakes in your pajamas. Practice your French, Italian, or Spanish. Call your mom. Call your sister. Call both your sisters.

Start an unconventional romance.

Make it a goal to watch Diane Keaton’s entire filmography.

Take the long way home. Don’t leave your house for 24 hours. Spend the day alone.

Pick a book off of the NYT Best Books of the 21st Century list. Finish it in an afternoon.

Host a party. Buy a 3 wick candle. Buy someone’s dinner.

Plan a trip for next year in full detail. Book said trip after a spontaneous night out with your best girlfriends.

Make homemade popcorn. Watch Casablanca and finally realize what everyone was talking about.

Start a windowsill garden, or just by a plant. Remember to actually water it.

Find the humor in everything. Even things that shouldn’t be funny.

Gallivant.
