New York City: Taylor’s Version

Welcome back Gallivanters – and Welcome to New York!

If you have learned anything about me over the years secondary to being a Gallivanter I am also a big fan of Taylor Swift. And oh how this has been a very exciting few weeks to be a Swiftie!

Taylor Swift is set to release her new album, “Life of a Showgirl” on October 3rd, she just got engaged to her boyfriend Travis Kelce, and announced the premiere of her next movie.

In honor of all the exciting things happening, I thought it would be a perfect time to revisit my trip to New York City – but make lets make it Taylor’s Version.

So here is a list of all the places you can visit in New York that Taylor Swift has either heavily referenced or explicitly wrote about in her songs.

Cornelia Street – 23 Cornelia Street, New York, NY 10014

Not only is this one of her top hits on her album, Lover “Cornelia Street” is where Taylor lived for many years.

She has since moved out of the apartment in the West Village, but she references her time living in New York across almost all of her albums.

The Chelsea Hotel – 222 West 23rd Street, New York, NY 10011

In her song, “The Tortured Poets Department” Taylor directly references the Chelsea Hotel.

The hotel is known for its rich artistic history hosting many “Tortured Poets” such as Dylan Thomas and Patti Smith.

Coney Island – 1000 Surf Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11224

It’s hard to pick favorites, but one of my favorite songs Taylor has written is “Coney Island” off of her album Evermore.

While the themed park in Brooklyn is all fun and games, Coney Island is a tragic song about lost love and the maturation of relationships.

Lovers of Today – 132 1/2 E 7th St, New York, NY 10009

In Taylor Swift’s song, “Delicate” she references a bar on the east side where she is planning on meeting up with someone she is in a delicate relationship with.

Throughout the years since the song came up, fans figured out that she was meeting her then boyfriend Joe Alwyn – but the bar remained a mystery.

Many fans speculate that the bar she references is the Lovers of Today bar in the east village.

The High Line – New York, New York

The High Line is a public park walkway that is located on the West side and goes through iconic neighborhoods in the city like the Hudson Yards.

It is believed this is the High Line Taylor is referencing in her song “Cardigan.”

Well folks!

I hope you’ve enjoyed this week’s blog post!

I loved getting to reminisce on my trip to New York while getting excited for all the new Taylor Swift songs I can listen to on my next trip back ๐Ÿ™‚

Til next time,
