Thanksgiving Recipe: Chocolate Cream Pie

Welcome Gallivanters!

I am already ready for Thanksgiving leftovers next week.

But I’ve reached the age where I’m expected to contribute a dish…and I haven’t quite mastered the big three (turkey, stuffing, mac n cheese). Argue in the comments.

So this year I thought I’d start off by bringing a dessert!

Here is a quick and easy recipe that will wow your family at Thanksgiving.

Without further ado, Chocolate Cream Pie.

Chocolate Cream Pie

Ingredients:

This recipe will yield 1 pie (6-8 slices)

  1. Combine cornstarch, cocoa powder, sugar and salt in a nonstick mixing bowl.
  2. In a sauce pan, add heavy whipping cream and bring to medium heat.
  3. Add dry ingredients to heavy whipping cream, be sure to sift flour to prevent clumps.
  4. After whisking egg yolks in a separate bowl, slowly incorporate to chocolate milk mixture, make sure to turn down the heat to medium/low as to not cook the eggs too quickly. Continue to whisk as the are incorporated
  5. Place mixture on low, adding vanilla extract.
  6. Pour completed mixture into pre-baked pie crust to cool.
  7. In a stand mixer, beat egg whites and cream of tartar until foamy, then slowing incorporate the remaining sugar and beat together until stiff peaks form.
  8. After scooping meringue onto the pie, bake at 350 for 13-15 minutes or until meringue starts to brown.
  9. Enjoy!

Well folks, I hope you’ve enjoyed today’s blog post!

I think your family’s will be impressed with your new found baking skills.

If not, next year store bought is fine.
